Aubony Star – Kaylee Kruschke
Kaylee is the daughter of Chris & Lynette Kruschke of Glencoe, Minnesota.
Kaylee is a junior at GSL-Glencoe Silver Lake High School and loves being involved – whether it’s academic, in social activities, or participating in sports! She is one out of 13 juniors to have earned GSL academic letters for the 2010-11 school year. This past fall she was accepted to her schools’ National Honor Society! Kaylee is a member of the student activities group – which plans homecoming and winterfest. This year she is also on the prom committee. Kaylee is an editor for the second year for her school yearbook.
Kaylee enjoys running long distances, she is in Cross-Country and returns to the Panther Track and Field Team with letters previously won!
More importantly, Kaylee put her love of running and compassion for others into action this past summer when her friend Mandy Schlauderaff asked her if she would be interested in running a triathlon to support families with children who are battling cancer.
Kaylee, you are an inspiration to us all. Your star shines so bright, you are a SUPER STAR!
Kaylee participated in MiracleKids Triathlon 2010 which took place 8/21/2010 in Chanhassen, Minnesota!
The MiracleKids Triathlon is an event fundraiser for the Miracles of Mitch Foundation, which serves families with a child battling cancer in a Minnesota hospital. The money raised goes toward providing grants for these families which cover the cost-of-living expenses. Pledges also fund the quality-of-life initiatives like sending a kid off to cancer camp for a week of fun away from treatment.
MIRACLES OF MITCH FOUNDATION
Miracles of Mitch Foundation. The Miracles of Mitch Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization (federal ID #56-2384527) that provides financial and quality of life assistance to the families of children treated for cancer in Minnesota. Their assistance includes: mortgage, rent, utilities and property tax payments; auto loan payments, auto repairs, gas and grocery cards; weekend getaways for cancer families; a summer camp for cancer patients and siblings; and special end-of-life requests.
Mitch Chepokas 1993-2003. Mitch was a kid who loved to swim, bike and run, and always seemed to be up to something with his pals. Then one day he was diagnosed with bone cancer. Though the cancer quickly ravaged his body, it hardly made a dent in this 9 year old boy’s incredible spirit. In fact, it was when Mitch was at his sickest that his spirit shined brightest. That’s when he reached out with generosity and kindness to other kids, giving them his life savings and all the encouragement he had left to give. The gesture made such an impact in the families who recieved it and made Mitch feel so good that he made his father “pinky swear” to keep helping kids with cancer after he was gone.
That promise led to the Miracles of Mitch Foundation.
